Let's Get The Old Band Back Together Again

I've done a lot of reminiscing today.

Looking back through old posts I came across this one and immediately embarked on a mission to find those grey gloves. They're so soft! And I love them! And, sure, I'd completely forgotten they existed until I saw that post but...want! Now!

I didn't find them *sob*, but I did re-discover these tights. And hey, wouldn't you know...I'm wearing the same flanno.

The thing that tugged the most on my heartstrings though is a video I found on my phone from way back in January on Australia Day. Hanging around the table at Sophie's, talking smack and drinking out of watermelons.

Sophie and I way back in 2001

Sophie, if you're reading this. Come home! We miss you! I know you're out making the world a better place musically but I'm feeling selfish. I wanna hang out at the dog track. Play lawn bowls. Drink Banrock cask wine...

Ick & Ew

Oh gosh, being sick is the pits. To make myself feel a little better/human, I got dressed in an outfit I really liked/felt comfortable in and headed to the store for a short bout of last minute shopping for my girls (niece 4, cousin 9) whose birthday's are one day apart.

I love this blue dress that I scored in Sydney. And the brown one too. I have so many ideas for them but funny enough, I've not worn them as often as I thought. Mostly I think it's because I want everyone else to see how fabulous they are and that doesn't really happen on the days I don't leave the house (which is alarmingly often when you work from home).

So for the 45 minutes I was at the store on Saturday, I had to make the most of it.

Let Go And Let Goodwill

Last week I went through my wardrobe...and ended up with three whole suitcases full of stuff for Goodwill! Only, we don't have Goodwill here, (the store that is...we've got plenty of the intention) so it's three whole suitcases for Vinnies. Or Lifeline. Or, whichever clothes bin I can fit them in.

Man, it feels good! Funny enough, I've still got a packed wardrobe and a sizeable duffel bag full of warm weather stuff...

The Difference A Little Light Makes

It really is amazing, the difference a little light makes (as The Man remarked on Saturday, looking at these pictures). I didn't want to come back inside!

We got up at 5:50 am to watch the replay of the Dogs game on Saturday morning. I always like being up early on the weekend. I feel like I get to squeeze the most out of the time off that way.

Once the game was over (victory!) we headed to Chermside to run some errands and I'm not in the least ashamed to say that I channelled a little "Blossom" when I reached for the floral tights.

They even got me a compliment at the store! Which is always welcome.

Then that night we went out for dinner with family. Sherpa chicken. Oh my word.

We certainly weren't up as early on Sunday. And one of us was definitely feeling less than chipper.

Not me though. I was out and about enjoying the sunshine and gathering materials for some craft projects I've been working on.

Stay tuned, I'll post pictures soon!

In Which My Adult Life Is Pretty Dang Awesome

We’re working on a particularly involved project at work at the moment. So yesterday I packed up the trusty laptop (read: heaviest substance on earth) and worked offsite.

Getting dressed in the morning my only requirement was no blue (State of Origin you know, game 2. I’d rather not talk about it).

I ended up with what I called a “Market Day” look. Those of you from round here might remember it as a festival from the late 90’s run bylocal radio station 4ZZZ. It may still be going actually...

I had fun with this outfit. You can’t really tell in the pictures but these tights are bright purple. And, you know, 90’s...so...of course I’m gonna love it.

I have to say, my favourite part of the day was between meetings in the afternoon. I said I had plenty to go on with. What I actually did was read this and this (which I found here). And watch a bunch of My So Called Life clips.

I had a little giggle to myself when I realised that, here I was working in an office off-site, taking a breather between srs bzness meetings reading about Nirvana and watching My So Called Life clips.

Adult life win!

Who's Gonna Drive You Home? Me.

Today is a bit of a big day. A nerve-wracking, yet exhilarating day. My first driving lesson.

Please excuse the yawn... turns out being this excited/freaked out is exhausting!
Yes, I know I’m not a teenager. Yes, I know I’m a little overdue. But for a plethora of reasons I’ve been a non-driver, up until now.

I thought, to honour the occasion, I should wear something that I would have been happy to wear had I got my license at the, you know, conventional age.

But really, who am I kidding. I’ll wear something I would have worn in high school at any available opportunity.

Plus I couldn’t find driving gloves and goggles at such short notice.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to figure out how to flip the bird while keeping my hands at 10 and 2.

I Want To Go To Spotlight But I Have To Wait For The Cactus

I had such high hopes for this long weekend. 3 days of goofing off and rocking fantastic outfits. But turns out, the sickness gods had other plans and saw fit to smite The Man and I.

As I write this we’ve currently taken up residence on the couch surrounded by tissues and empty tea cups.

Rather than subject you to photographic evidence – here’s a post from the week before last....

It's a good day today. In fact, it's glorious. Yep:

[glawr-ee-uhs, glohr-]adjective

1.
delightful; wonderful; completely enjoyable

I walked through the park on my way to the train station. It was all sunshine and birds twittering (and I mean, honest to god, original definition of the term. No, "Just ate soup. Now watching Dr Who reruns").

I swear, taking back my Fridays (and not naming a band after it) was the best thing I could have done. If you're in a position to do it, gosh, do!

The Best Intentions

I've been really happy with a lot of my outfits lately. The problem is...documenting said outfits.

I forgot how dark it gets in winter. Or rather, how early it gets dark.

By the time The Man gets home there's little light left. And I'm yet to figure out how to take legitimate pictures of myself with my iPhone that don't involve the ever classy "My Space" pose.

Ah such are the tribulations of having a blog...

Versus

Oh wow, what a great night Saturday was. Let me break it on down for you. Good friends of ours are packing up and leaving town. So we saw them off in a style truly befitting to them.

How is this the best shot I got of me in a limo?

We all took a limo to The Jube. Now, for those of you unlucky enough not to be familiar with The Jube, this whole act is like wearing Louboutins to a bowling alley. It was fantastic.

But the kicker was night's main attraction. Strap yourself in for some...Midget VS Ninja Wrestling! I know, right? Coolest thing ever!

It kinda sucked because the midget was sick so it was just regular sized dudes fighting. Still awesome though.

Now before you get all uppity and start throwing around letters like "P" and "C"...I talked to a couple of the wrestlers and because the midgets themselves decide to become wrestlers it's totally cool. There's no P.T. Barnum up in here. No working for a dime a week. They get paid the same as the other wrestlers. In beer. Or probably real money, I didn't ask. It's impolite you know.

Number 24

This week I've been working my way through JJJ’s Hottest 100 from 1993 on YouTube.

I’ve come to number 24 and it’s occurred to me that 4 Non Blondes may just be responsible for my lifelong love affair of boots with dresses.

BRB - going to buy a leather top hat and goggles.
